Writer Pathways
Purpose: Witness, remember, understand, or preserve lived experience.
Likely genres and forms: Memoir, personal essay, oral history, biography, local history, lyric essay.
First move: Choose one charged memory, write the scene, then add the adult mind reflecting on why it still matters.Purpose: Move readers through imagination, voice, structure, surprise, and emotional truth.
Likely genres and forms: Literary fiction, mystery, romance, fantasy, science fiction, horror, poetry, drama.
First move: Name the reader promise of the genre, read three examples, and draft one scene where something changes.Purpose: Help readers understand an issue, change their mind, or take useful action.

First move: Write one sentence that names the claim, the audience, the stakes, and the evidence you can actually support.Purpose: Persuade a decision-maker that a need is real and a plan is credible.

First move: Define the community need, the measurable outcome, the people served, the timeline, and why your plan fits the funder.Purpose: Make information useful, decisions easier, and responsibilities clear.
